Citizen Developers - There’s no need to be afraid
Following in Maria Gabriella’s footsteps, I took a moment to speak with Chuck Tomasi this week on his podcast Break Point. I truly enjoyed being able to speak with Chuck and talk about my ServiceNow journey. One of the topics that came up, that I cannot avoid talking about, was Citizen Developers.
Somehow I got here: On impostor syndrome
I had the great honor of being on Chuck Tomasi’s Break Point podcast! I had a lot of fun talking to him about my career, the role that ServiceNow has played in my life and how we both have experienced and battled with Impostor syndrome. Give it a listen then come back for more!
snDevs: How do I contribute?
I will be the first to say that I am not the most technical person out there and I rely heavily on researching everything… and asking my friends for help. Thanks to Earl Duque’s help, today i’m going to be sharing my experience with helping out with the PointsThing bot on the snDevs slack channel!
2021 Developer MVP Submissions
One year ago, the first ever ServiceNow Developer MVPs were announced. I knew many of the people on the list, and they were all so very deserving of the title. But I also noticed something.
There was not a single woman.
On being an ally
From subtle things like office temperatures being controlled by management (predominantly male) and thus run cooler than what would be comfortable for women, to every-day social interactions like cooler-talk that could more or less be alienating, to bigger problematic statistics like women are more likely to be excluded from important events or decisions, what does it mean for someone who benefits from this privilege just by their gender?
In other words, what does it mean to be an ally?
Hacktoberfest
Every October Digital Ocean hosts Hacktoberfest, a celebration of Open Source. This is an opprotunity to learn and explore open source projects, win a shirt, and just feel good about completing something. This year, as in the years past, the Developer Program team of ServiceNow are hosting some ServiceNow specific repos. There are two primary repos, Spokes and Components.
Reusable iframe Widget
I know, I don’t recommend this method at all. But on occasion we all must do things we don’t like. I’ve seen this come up a few times in the community and decided to throw together a simple how to. Adding an iframe to the portal is easy. Below I walk you through creating a simple widget that allows you to set the URL of the iframe in the instance options.
Looking to learn about Paris?
With the Early Release of Paris available on PDIs now, there has been an influx of great information coming from the community. Below are some posts exploring the new features coming with Paris:
Add "Form Annotations" In Service Portal
Form annotations do not appear on forms when rendered in Service Portal. While you can use a solution like a field level Client Script, I do not find that to provide the look and feel I'm often looking for. Instead, you can embed a widget on the form to take the place of form annotations.
My Knowledge 20 Session Picks
To help you select some session options, I am sharing my session picks (from the first 4 weeks of content) – recommended for fellow ServiceNow developers.
